Merry Christmas!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and happy holidays this season! I am in the process of working out venues for Paint Nights as well as locating a retail/studio space here in Anchorage to keep the dream growing! All the best to you and yours.
Shop is currently under construction!
Hey folks! Just wanted to give a quick update on the status of the website. I am currently in the process of taking all the works I have listed in the Available tab and moving them to the Shop. Please bear with me! If there is anything you see that you like in the meantime don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email. Have a good one!
Alaska Range Sunset
Fresh off the easel! Finally able to get the brushes going again after working multiple jobs that took me from Maui to the Bering Sea. Enjoying spring here in south central Alaska. This one is inspired by sunset colors we saw spending the night at one of the cabins in K’esugi Ken campground, overlooking the Alaska Range. Oil on 12” tile, $110.
Big News!
For the past few winters, I have been doing Paint Nights with Party Paint USA in several bars/restaurants around Anchorage. They decided to pull out of Anchorage, and left me the “keys to the kingdom” so to speak. I have all the supplies and will be starting my own seasonal paint nights this spring! Acryllics to start, but will move in to oils some time in the future. Stay tuned for more news on this front!
Happy spring,
Ryan
Frosty Winter’s Greetings
Here’s another tile, playing around with different perspectives and foreground ideas, combining a few different elements on 6” is challenging and fun. Also, experimenting with different aurora shapes and techniques on canvas. I’ll be travelling to Maui right after the new year for work, and plan on bringing the paints along and really dig into the exact opposite of wintery scenes… tropical seascapes! Haha. Today is a frosty -1 F on my porch right now. Warm thoughts, warm thoughts indeed.

Birch and Aurora
I’ve been enjoying little birch scenes and aurora lately. These are all 6” tiles that come with wall hangers mounted to the back of them for $29 each. Enjoy!
Tiles!
I recently acquired some 6” and 12” tiles and have been painting them with wintry scenes to reflect the mood as we plunge into the season of ice and northern lights. These have been alot of fun and going forward I will be doing more smaller works like these. The idea is to have them hung on the wall to enjoy. I am also happy to announce I will be appearing at the 49th State Brewing Co. Holiday Market on Black Friday slinging art! If you are in the Anchorage area, please stop by and say hello!
Oil on tile, 6”. $27 ea.
Florida Sunrise
Florida sunrise. Thinking warm thoughts. Early mornings on the beach, walking the tide line to see what treasures the ocean left behind. Scuttling little burrowing crabs, the cries of the gulls. Gentle crash of the calm surf. Oil on canvas, 8" x 10". $60.
Meadow Brook
Meadow Brook. I find myself impatient with spring's late arrival lately. Hopefully in a few weeks things will start looking more like this. Wildflowers and plants blooming. 12" x 16". Oil on canvas. $144.
Dutch Harbor
A vessel leaving town. Dutch Harbor. For some people this place is a personal hell, an ordeal must be endured in order to make money quick so they can go home. For others, it is incredibly beautiful (weather permitting). This was a comission done as a wedding gift to some friends i worked with back in my observer days. They met and fell in love here. This was based on a few photos i took in summer of 2015. Hog island to the left, the iconic Mt. Ballyhoo to the right. The road winds along the coast of Amaknak island this way before turning toward town and the bridge to Unalaska. This spot is a great place to go for a walk. Right below Bunker Hill, it's called Little South America because of the shape of the coastline here as seen from above. Happy belated anniversary you two .
Cherry Blossoms
Cherry blossoms looking over a mountain stream. This one is a lovely soft little scape that made me warm and fuzzy inside. Oil on canvas, 8" x 10".
All set up! First Friday Feature
My works are currently hanging at Raven’s Ring Brewery in Huffman Business Park here in Anchorage! Stop by and check them out! They will be up all month.
Aurora Swirl
Still got time to gear up for my show at Raven’s Ring Brewery! Friday Feb. 3rd. If you are in the area swing by and say hello! My paintings will be hanging up there for the month. Ill be making the show a priority so I will be available most nights to meet folks there :). 12” x 16”.
Deep Forest Falls
Deep forest falls. Earthy browns invoke the feeling of being deep down a trail alongside a river nestled in the woods. This one was a multi day journey. I started it a few days ago and was not able to finish it until today. The amount of detail I can put on a 16" x 20" canvas is awesome but certainly takes more time! There are 2 different animals silhouetted here. Can you spot them?
Tropical Blues
Lately I have been thinking that I have been seriously neglecting sea scapes. Today was the time to remedy that! Deep prussian blues bring home the warm romantic moonlit feeling of the beach at night. Partially inspired by a recent trip to the Caribbean. This one was hard to photograph! the detail in the palm trees is easier to see in person. I loved it so much I just had to get a picture of it to share. 12” x 16”.
Golden Glow
Here’s one that is a bit different. Indian Yellow is the back drop for this golden winter painting. Complete with a cozy cabin on a quiet lake. I like how the background trees in this one came out. The frosted birch in the foreground really brings it all together.
Blue Winter Morning
You might need to put a jacket on to look at this beauty. A frozen river meanders thru a majestic valley. Inspired by Interior Alaska.
Forest Bridge
Whew! This one was tricky. I decided to shake things up and paint a little bridge crossing a glacial river in the forest during summer. It had been a while since I have had to layer green bushes like this! Enjoy.
I got a pro camera!
Expect Available Work and Past Work updates this week. I have recently acquired a Canon camera and I am exited to get good shots of my work to upload! Once I am all caught up, my latest works, news, and blues will be here on my main page.
Stay tuned!
